The OT Sensory Screener is a pre-referral screening tool used to assist teachers and therapists in identifying behaviors that may be linked to a students sensory processing. It can be utilized by teachers and therapists to quickly provide sensory strategies based on observable behavior, which may improve students abilities to participate in school activities.
Information obtained from the OT Sensory Screener can be utilized to implement targeted pre-referral interventions, such as response to intervention and multi-tiered system of support strategies, for students
Each behavior has a dedicated page that offers users information that can provide insights into how their students process and integrate sensory information. Additionally, sensory strategies are listed to assist teachers and therapists in selecting activities to help students improve their readiness for learning and participation in school activities.

The OT Sensory Screener IS NOT a substitute for a standardized, validated, and norm referenced assessment tools of sensory processing. If users suspect sensory differences in their students, an Occupational Therapist with post-graduate training in Ayres Sensory Integration® should be consulted.
The information within this screening tool is derived from available data and sensory strategies agreed upon by experts. These strategies may or may not be effective for students experiencing sensory differences.
The OT Sensory Screener is compatible with iOS 17 and later.
This tool should not be used to determine a student’s offer of free and appropriate public education.
